Born in Wisconsin, Mary A. Boscher studied art in Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois, where she also pursued studies in graphics and calligraphy. After relocating to New York’s Hudson Valley, she earned her Master of Fine Arts from SUNY New Paltz and went on to teach in several schools, including Ossining and Spackenkill.
Boscher’s work has been exhibited throughout the region, including Kingston, Mahopac, New Paltz, Ossining, Poughkeepsie, and Saugerties. Her solo exhibition at the Arts Society of Kingston in December 2026 featured 63 multimedia pieces, and her most recent show at Adriance Memorial Library included over 70 works.
For several years, Boscher designed and contributed to the Saugerties Chamber Street Art exhibit, creating imaginative pieces such as a carousel horse, three lighthouses, and a garden chair. Her multimedia works have included a kiddie pedal car transformed into a Peace Mobile, a stallion reimagined as a unicorn, and a rocking horse adorned with painted children’s toys. Each summer, these pieces are auctioned to benefit local causes such as schools, food pantries, and veterans’ organizations.
Boscher has also created works for nonprofit fundraisers, including Abilities First and Doctors Without Borders. Over the years, her artistic practice has encompassed furniture design, jewelry making, mosaics, prints, decoupage, and assemblage.
